  6. Patrice Bishop on July 30, 2020 at 4:29 am

I love how the virtual lesson plan takes things slow. You don’t want to overwhelm students and parents.

    • Amber Ernst on July 30, 2020 at 12:51 pm

Yes! Back to school (especially this year) with distance learning is such an overwhelming time for students and families. Taking it slow can help ease that!

  7. Angela Stankiewicz on July 30, 2020 at 6:03 am

After student introductions last year, I created a class Kahoot based on what they said about themselves. We played it numerous times during the year as they enjoyed it so much. I kept the Kahoot private so no personal information was available online.

    • Amber Ernst on July 30, 2020 at 12:52 pm

I love this community building Kahoot idea Angela! Thanks for sharing . Your students are lucky to have such a thoughtful teacher!

First day is going to look so different this year! Since we are starting remotely I would like to show our classroom, but even our room won’t look the same. 🙁 I am really going to work hard on building class community virtually.

    • Amber Ernst on July 30, 2020 at 12:55 pm

Showing your classroom as a first day back to school for distance learning is such an awesome idea! recording ahead or filming from your room would give students a real “feel” for you and what it would be like when they come back in person!

  14. Cristj on July 30, 2020 at 8:07 am

Thank you for the ideas! With so many unknowns, it’s good to have something to work with to get ideas going.

  15. Christina Reynolds on July 30, 2020 at 8:28 am

Thanks for the tips! We’re going back in person (for now) but I would be we will be transitioning back to distance learning eventually. This will be a tough year no matter what!

    • Amber Ernst on July 30, 2020 at 12:56 pm

Yes – bookmark for when you do return to in person learning!

  16. Theresa Simoneaux on July 30, 2020 at 9:39 am

  21. Katy on July 30, 2020 at 3:22 pm

I love the calendar and how to break down distance learning into chunks. I like to start off the year with a Me Bag, where students showcase themselves with 3-5 items. Now with remote learning, I like the student showcase to continue my tradition and learning about my students.

  22. Liz Castner on July 30, 2020 at 4:21 pm

  26. Amy on July 31, 2020 at 10:51 am

Thank you for sharing your ideas! I like how you break up the rules/procedures- we don’t need information overload!

These are great! Takes some of the stress off when planning for the start of school. Thank you!

  28. Liona on August 1, 2020 at 11:10 pm

School will look and feel so different this year, as we have completely shifted to remote learning! Although not required, teachers are recommended to teach in school because of the more stable internet connection. We’re truly working harder than ever.. 🙁 So, thank you for these great ideas!

  29. Gretchen Gibbs on August 1, 2020 at 11:11 pm
