The BEST Distance Learning End of School Year Ideas List

Wow! Who would have ever imagined the end of school year would look like this?! How can you end the school year on a positive note with distance learning?

What regular ideas can you adapt to use for distance learning at the end of the year and still end on a high note?

1. End of School Year Selfie Awards

I love these Distance Learning Selfie Awards for multiple reasons! This works great as a reflection and end of year exercise. Send all to students and have them choose and reflect on this time OR complete and send to students to add their selfie!

Such a great positive end of school year note, while keeping spirits up and not tying to heavy content.

2. Digital End of Year Memory Book

A Digital End of Year Memory Book is a great idea for students to complete as end of school year activity. Easy to work on and combine pages together for a whole class book in Google Classroom or assign separate page in Seesaw.

3. End of School Year Memory Video Activity

One of my favorite ways to do a end of school year video is to use the “3 words” just like Good Morning America.

Some prompts I give:

• describe your year in three words
• describe what you are looking forward to
• how you feel about our class
• a message for the incoming class

I’ve let it really go free reign and the video ALWAYS turns out awesome. Even just sending in pictures is pretty easy to compile.

4. Student Pick Up/Drop Off Gifts

Having students drop off supplies or delivering to students via bus? Slipping in a small gift or note is an easy way to connect with ALL students before summer!

5. Distance Learning ABC Countdown

ABC Countdowns as an end of year activity are so popular! This one was even modified for Distance Learning making it great for ALL elementary!

6. Compliment Student Whiteboards!

Even if not in person – this can still be a great end of year activity! Slide a picture of each student into Google Slides and have students add text boxes to compliment that student.

*bonus* this can serve as a yearbook of sorts for the end of year!

*double bonus* print completed work as postcards and mail to students during summer!

7. Field Day At Home

Just because you might not be together, still try out a great Field Day Activities for the end of the school year!

8. Balloon End of Year Countdown

Pop balloons each day on Google Meet or Zoom or mail to students (or drop off in their work packets) and take turns popping for the last days of the year!

Have an activity or special note in the balloon to do!

9. Letter to Next Year’s Class

Easy to compile together….a top 10 tips for our class, or advice for incoming students! Include distance learning tips that students learned this year!

Fill out a fun sheet in Google Slides and look through them together!

10. A-Z about our Class

Come up with word or phrases of learning of your class for the entire Alphabet A-Z. Keep these up for students next year to see or have future students gallery walk through them.

You could do this as a class together or students could brainstorm individually!
